Interrupting Cow

Jack has quite the sophisticated sense of humor. I'm not sure who taught him his favorite joke, (I suspect Ben as Mitchell's jokes tend to be a bit more... well... made up) but he loves to shout this one out:

Knock Knock, mom!

who's there?

Interrupting cow!

Interrupting cow who?

MOO!

I swear, he gets the word "interrupting" correct and even has the interrupting "moo" timed perfectly! The first time he pulled this one on me, I couldn't believe how perfect he got it! It was so funny!

He loves to tell this joke anywhere, but his favorite place is in a parking garage where his voice is amplified and echos so he can really get full acoustic sound out of his "MOO!"

How Did That Get In There?

I built the boys a fort today. It's raining. It's cold. What else are we supposed to do once all our responsibilities are finished?

Once the fort was built, we all picked our light up toy of choice, turned off the basement lights, and settled in. It only took a minute for Jack's aroma to fill the small space though. Always a funny topic in our house, we made jokes about it. I then turned to Jack and asked him, "Jack, what have you got in your diaper that smells so stinky?"

He looked like he gave it some serious thought before responding and shouted, "Dog poop!"

Cue the hysterical laughing from the other two boys who love a good poop joke. I have to wonder how that dog poop managed to get in his diaper though. Poor Jack. The cruel victim of a poop prank.

Just Because You Don't Get It, Doesn't Mean It Isn't Funny

A few nights ago, Mitchell came running up to me, insisting he had something really funny to show me upstairs - a joke, as he called it.  I followed him upstairs, insisting that my eyes were closed until the proper moment of revelation.  He led me to my closet (I may have peeked a tad on the way there - I don't fully trust him with my eyes closed) and instructed me to open my eyes!  I looked around my closet, but didn't quite see the "joke."  I'll show you what I saw:

What, you don't see it either?  I smiled and asked him to show me what it was that was so funny and he directed my attention to the empty beer bottle he had placed on the shelf with a look on his face that said, "Are you kidding?  Can't you see the hilarious beer bottle I put there?"  He then started cracking up as if placing a beer bottle on the shelf in the closet is the funniest joke one could play.  He then called Ben in and he got it!  He saw that bottle immediately and started cracking up too!  "That's so funny, Mitchell!"

Ok, I don't really get it, but in the end, it was pretty funny.  We don't get to laugh together in the closet very often.

Why Is It So Funny?

Why is it that little boys (and big boys...and men...) find words pertaining to private parts and bathroom experiences so giggle inducing?  Today in the car, Ben and Mitchell were starting to get a bit stressed out after about 10 minutes of Jack's crying.  Ben finally unplugged his ears for long enough to ask me why Jack had to cry for so long and I said that he probably had poopy pants.  Well, that immediately changed the mood in the car.  The fingers came out of the ears, they looked at each other, grinned their naughtiest little grins, and said, "she said poopy..." followed by plenty of giggling and silly faces.  Where do they get that?  Who told them poop and bottoms and other private parts are funny?  Well, I guess I know where they get it because Matt also was quietly giggling about the "poopy pants" comment.

It's not just "poopy" words that are hilarious though.  They also find it funny to pull each other's pants down and expose their bums.  They are eternally fascinated by...well...other private parts as well.  There seems to be no end to jokes and silliness in that department.  How did I end up so surrounded by males with questionable senses of humor?  I don't get it...
