He's A Killer

Mitchell can't decide what he wants to be when he grows up, but for now, he has it narrowed down to two choices: dentist or killer.  Yes, I said "killer."

Today, he took a break from being the usual - a dentist - to be a killer.  He put little blocks on the end of his fingers and said, "Watch out, mom!  I'm the killer guy!"   Apparently, he has given it some thought, and decided he wants to be a killer when he grows up.  I asked him who he wants to kill and he said, "Just some bad guys...and sometimes Ben."  After a chuckle, I asked him if he knew what it meant to kill someone.  It was clear that he didn't understand, so I explained what it means.  He then looked at me and said, "Ok, I'll just pretend to kill.  And then I'll give them my magic potion to make them alive again."

I have no idea where his violent career choice has come from.  We don't watch anything resembling violence on TV, nor do we encourage abnormally violent games between the boys.  We let them wrestle and beat each other up a bit, but that's normal, right?  I don't pretend to always understand boys.  I guess he just feels the need to kick some butt right now.  I'm not quite sure what to do about it, but at least he carries a magic healing potion to correct his mistakes as he goes along.

  1. One more proof that boys are born genetically different than girls.

  2. is it too early to enroll him in martial arts so he can channel some of that energy and instinct?

  3. no, not at all! in fact, now that soccer is over, we were discussing what to try next and karate and some sort of boxing are high on matt's list for mitchell :)

  4. Deb, I love the way you write about your boys! You are so funny and the stories are so cute! Thanks for sharing! Maybe your Mitchell and my Kate should get together. She has "friends" who are always "getting dead" from being shot by cannons. But then a little while later they get alive again! Maybe she knows about Mitchell's magic potion!

  5. thanks, sarah!

yes, we should get them together. from your fb posts, sounds like they have a lot in common. it would take some getting used to playing with a girl though.. :)

cannons, huh? i don't think we have discovered that weapon yet. only a matter of time...

  6. I think Kate discovered cannons from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
Wish we lived closer, it would be fun to have play dates with you guys! :)

  7. ahh...that would explain it :)

it would be fun, sarah. probably pretty crazy, but fun. we love crazy. makes the day more interesting for sure!

well, i do still have family in southern cal. next time we visit out that way, we will for sure have to plan a kids and mommy/daddy play date! :)
